Wanting a good hearty breakfast? These Bourbon Biscuits and Sage Sausage Gravy are a perfect addition to any breakfast.

For Biscuits
2 1/4 Cups of all purpose flour

3 Tablespoons of baking powder

1 Tablespoon of brown sugar

1 Teaspoon of salt

2 Tablespoons of honey bourbon

5 Tablespoons of unsalted butter

2 Cups of whole milk

+Melted butter for brushing

For Gravy

116 Oz. tube of breakfast sausage (I use Jimmy Dean’s Brand)

2 Tablespoons of freshly minced sage

1 Tablespoon of freshly minced rosemary

1/2 Teaspoon of freshly cracked pepper

4 Tablespoons of all purpose flour

2 1/2 Cups of whole milk

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit
  2. Combine flour, baking powder, brown sugar, salt, honey bourbon and butter in a large bowl. Blend mixture with a pastry blender until crumbly. Add in milk and stir until a ball forms. Transfer dough to a floured surface. Pat down into a rough rectangle and fold over 4-6 times. Cover dough with a wet towel and let rest for 30 minutes. Cut dough with a glass or biscuit cutter. Arrange biscuits on baking sheet and brush with melted butter. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
  3. In a large frying or braising pan cook sausage on medium heat until cooked through. Add sage, rosemary, pepper, and flour and mix. Add in milk and heat on medium low until boiling and gravy has thickened, about 10-15 minutes. Add biscuits to gravy and serve family style.
