Why you’ll love this pear martini recipe

Delicately delicious! We are using pear in two forms here — fresh pear and pear vodka! The two combined make a delicate yet delightful fruit-forward cocktail that just can’t be beat. If you can’t find pear vodka, muddle extra pear at the beginning and garnish with a few extra pear slices.

Dressed to impress! This is one of those cocktail recipes that is unexpected, but it makes it that much more impressive. Your friends and family are going to love this one — trust me!

A must for the holiday season! What a way to celebrate the holidays than with a cocktail that features fruit so prominent throughout the fall and winter seasons. Pear is a must in many of my cold weather recipes — and this has got to be one of my faves!

Ingredients

This pear vodka martini is made with only 4 ingredients – 5 ingredients if you count the ice. We will need:

simple syrup, pear vodka, juicer, lemon, pears

  • Fresh ripe pear
  • Pear vodka
  • Fresh lemon juice
  • Simple syrup
  • Ice

Ingredient substitutions and notes:

  • Pear: Use a Bosc or Green pear, just make sure it is ripe for the best flavor.
  • Vodka: I love Grey Goose La Poire – which is pear infused vodka that is divine. Absolut Pear Vodka is the next best thing. A few other varieties you may be able to find include Skyy, Wild Roots, Smirnoff and Veil, among others.
  • Simple syrup: Use homemade simple syrup or buy a bottle at your local liquor store.

How to make

A pear vodka martini is easy to make when you have the right tools. Grab your favorite cocktail shaker and muddler – and get ready to party. Here’s how to do it in just a few easy steps:

Muddle pear: Dice up ½ of the pear and add to a cocktail shaker. Muddle the pear together until it’s released its juices and is mashed.

Shake: Add in the pear vodka, lemon juice, and simple syrup. Add in 1 cup of ice and shake the drink for 20-30 seconds.

Strain: Strain into a chilled martini glass and garnish with a pear slice.

Try a variation

I love this pear martini recipe just as is, but there are a few additions or fun twists to truly make it your own. You could try:

  • Add 1 oz Elderflower liquer, like St Germain
  • Finish it with a splash of pear nectar or pear juice, if you’re lucky enough to find it!
  • Add a dash or two of orange bitters to compliment and balance the sweet flavors.

Serving suggestions

While I love classic cocktails to serve during the holidays, this one is going to impress all your friends and family. A bit unexpected, yet exceptionally delicious, I serve this during Thanksgiving, Christmas and any holidays parties that may fall in between.

Pear it with mini steak frites, fried sage leaves and blue cheese stuffed olives for the ultimate holiday soiree.

Recipe tips & notes:

  • Use a ripe pear. The riper the pear, the better the flavor.
  • Muddle the pear with intensity. We really want the pear juices to release and the fruit to breakdown. Don’t be shy with your muddling strength!
  • Make it more or less sweet. Use as much or as little simple syrup as you like. Start with 1/2 ounce and work your way up from there.
