Not Your Father's Root Beer Floats
Remember when you had your first taste of wine or beer when you were like 15 something years old. Either at dinner with your parents or someone's backyard party or wherever. You have that moment where you think 'this is it, this is what i've been waiting for'. You're expecting this magical moment and it actually kind of tastes like pee and you just want to spit it out your nostrils.
I know eventually we get used to it and these days cooking without a glass of wine is crazy to me. But I do wish that my first drink experience was with Not Your Father's Root Beer. It's silky smooth, bodied with rich spices and still gives you the faintest taste of an alcoholic beverage.
This summer I sipped on these root beers poolside quite a bit and I'm still relishing in how good it is. Being a food blogger of course I couldn't just leave it alone in all it's glory. I had to turn it into a boozy root beer float. Top this with the bourbon drizzle and you will probably watch some people lick that mason jar clean.
Not Your Father's Root Beer Float
1 Bottle of Not Your Father's Root Beer (found in most liquor stores)
3 Large Scoops of good Vanilla Bean Ice cream
1 Shot of Bourbon or Whiskey (optional but... necessary)
for the brown sugar bourbon sauce
3 Tablespoons of Unsalted Butter
1/4 Cup of Brown Sugar
Pinch of Salt
1 Shot of your Favorite Bourbon or Whiskey
Fill a mason jar with vanilla ice cream, add in shot of bourbon or whiskey, fill with Not Your Father's Root Beer.
In a small sauce pan whisk brown sugar, salt and butter together on medium-low heat until sugar is dissolved. Add in shot of bourbon and whisk until smooth. Top over root beer float.
